Basics » Search on Bing.com
On Facebook’s web search powered by Bing, you may see friends’ faces next to results they’ve liked and shared publicly. The same experience is available to you on Bing.com. Additionally, people searches are personalized. When you search for people you know on Bing, you will be able to see public Facebook profiles of people close to you (i.e., your friends or friends of friends). This experience is available when you arrive on Bing while logged in to Facebook or if you connect to Facebook while on Bing.

When you arrive on Bing while logged in to Facebook, you’ll be able to experience social search features. The first few times this happens, you’ll see a notification at the top of the search results page. From here you can click "Disable to turn the features off". You can always disconnect and re-connect to Facebook on Bing to turn the experience on and off.

You can also control what information appears on Bing by taking the following actions:
  • To control whether your likes and interests appear: Only likes and interests set to Public are used for personalizing the experience. Adjust your Basic Directory Information privacy settings. To do so, select "View settings" link underneath the Basic Directory Information of the Privacy Settings page. From there, select to edit "See my interests and other Pages" to a setting more restrictive than Public.
  • To control who can find you in the personalized people search: Adjust your Basic Directory Information privacy settings. To do so, select "View settings" link underneath the Basic Directory Information of the Privacy Settings page. From there, select to edit "Search for me on Facebook" to whichever set of people you want to be able to find you through personalized people search on Bing or on Facebook.
  • Block Bing here, which will prevent your publicly available profile information from appearing on Bing.
  • Turn off all instant personalization. To do so, while on Facebook, select to "Edit your settings" underneath the Applications and Websites section of the Privacy Settings page. From there, select to edit your settings for instant personalization.
  • Turn off Platform. To do so, while on Facebook select to "Edit your settings" underneath the Applications and Websites section of the Privacy Settings page. From there, use the "Turn off all platform applications." under the "Applications you use" section.
